About

Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, John Delante (b. 1998) is a visual artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. His work explores themes of home, belonging, and identity through photography and image-making. Engaging with temporal shifts and memory, his images navigate the tension between intimacy and distance. He reflects on how spaces and relationships shape one’s sense of self and open possibilities for reimagined futures.

John’s experience of migration and cultural transition informs his perspective, grounding his reflections on movement, adaptation, and the fluid nature of identity. His photographs linger between the familiar and the unfamiliar, tracing the intersections of past and present while inviting viewers to consider the transformative potential of memory and place.

John earned a BFA in Photography Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022 and has exhibited at Gallery 44, Latcham Art Centre and Artspace TMU.
